The closest on-snow experience to Christchurch, Porters has something for everyone! Fantastic learner slopes, licensed café, snow play area, short access road and a mountain of terrain for experts. There's a fleet of rental equipment for hire and a range of professional lessons available. Porters Lodge provides a range of on-mountain lodging and a la carte menu options. Terrain and Weather Tip
Those looking for Porters best snow should check the snow reports after southerly, south-east and nor’west fronts. The main basin generally faces east, although there’re a range of aspects that receive snow from all these weather patterns.
Accommodation
Porters Lodge has comfortable, bunk-style family accommodation set against a beautiful mountain backdrop.
The lodge is nestled at the base of Porters Ski Area and has a fully stocked restaurant and bar. Adjacent to the lodge is the new Snow Play area, a designated area for toboganning.
You can book a family room with double and single bunks, a bunk room with single bunks only or just a 'dorm bed' if you're on your own. There are also spots for campervans.
Dorm bed: $40 per night
Non-powered campervan site: $15 per night
Bunk rooms: $199 per night
