Nelson & Marlborough

If you travel to the South Island by ferry you will arrive in Marlborough, the northeastern tip of the island. Marlborough has a diverse landscape, from valleys of vines to sheltered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds. If you have time to explore the Queen Charlotte Sound is a must-do by foot, bike, or kayak. If you are in need of caffeine, we highly recommend Le Cafe in Picton, skiers with a Chill Pass get a 10% discount.  Also, at the top of the South Island a compact area of mountain ranges and forested valleys known as the Nelson Lakes National Park, is home to the beginning of the breath-taking Southern Alps. This is where you will find Rainbow, the most northern ski area on the Chill Pass.

Rainbow Ski Area

Rainbow is the most northern ski area on the Chill Pass. It's a seriously fun and friendly ski area, with facilities to match a medium-sized commercial operation. There's extensive snow making, a terrain park (with it's own tow), 5 tows including a t-bar and platter, with plenty of grooming. The terrain caters for beginners, intermediate and advanced.
